On 8 August 2023, the ASEAN Dhaka Committee (ADC) celebrated the 56th ASEAN Day at the Royal Thai Embassy with H.E. Dr. A.K. Abdul Momen, MP, Hon'ble Foreign Minister of Bangladesh as the Chief Guest. H.E. Mrs. Makawadee Sumitmor, Ambassador of Thailand, together with ADC Heads of Mission, representatives from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bangladesh, diplomatic missions, BIMSTEC Secretariat, and Diplomatic Correspondent Association of Bangladesh (DCAB) were present.

The celebrations started with the ASEAN Flag Raising Ceremony followed by ASEAN Food Festival.

H.E. Mr. Leo Tito L. Ausan, Jr., Ambassador of the Philippines, as the current chair of the ADC, affirmed ADC's commitment to engage with partners and stakeholders in Bangladesh and South Asia to achieve peace and prosperity. 

H.E. Mr. Heru Hartantu Subolo, Indonesian Ambassador, shared key outputs of ASEAN under Indonesia's Chairmanship and theme "ASEAN Matters: Epicentrum of Growth." These include ASEAN Leaders' Declarations that mention cooperation in various areas such as health protection of migrant workers and fishers, development of regional EV ecosystem and advancement of regional payment connectivity. On ASEAN-Bangaldesh relations, Indonesia invited Bangladesh, in the capacity of Chair of the Indian Ocean Rim Association (IORA), to join the upcoming 43rd ASEAN Summit and related meetings. Bangladesh will witness the signing of the agreement between ASEAN and IORA. 

The Hon'ble Foreign Minister of Bangladesh highlighted Bangladesh's commitment to work with ASEAN to promote regional peace and stability, trade and investment, technology, human capital development, and agriculture and renewable energy. He expressed Bangladesh's willingness to become a Sectoral Dialogue Partner.

The ADC was established in 2014 and consists of eight ASEAN Missions in Dhaka. The ADC Chair is rotated every six months and is currently held by the Embassy of the Philippines.
