On 29 October 2022, H.E. Mr. Sarun Charoensuwan, Deputy Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Thailand, presented the Royal Kathina Robe, graciously bestowed by His Majesty King Maha Vajiralongkorn of Thailand, to the assembly of monks of Binajuri Smashan Vihara in Chattogram. On this occasion, H.E. Mrs. Makawadee Sumitmor, Ambassador of Thailand to Bangladesh, Mr. Amir Humayun Mahmud Chowdhury, Honorary Consul of Thailand in Chattogram, officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Thailand, and approximately 500 fellow Buddhists in Bangladesh also participated in the ceremony. 

After the ceremony, the delegation offered food to His Holiness Gyanashree Mahasthavir, Supreme Patriarch of Bangladeshi Buddhists and Chief Abbot of the temple, and other five monks. The Thai delegation also handed over donation items, including rice, lentils, and blankets to Dhammakatik Orphanage under the supervision of the temple. 

The Royal Kathina Ceremony was warmly received by Thai and Bangladeshi Buddhists, who were profoundly appreciate of royal benevolence in supporting Buddhism. The donation from His Majesty the King of Thailand, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Thailand, the Royal Thai Embassy in Dhaka as well as Thai and Bangladeshi communities amounted to 392,090 baht (equivalent to 1,031,570 taka). This is the fourth Royal Kathina Ceremony held in Bangladesh after the first one was organized in 2010. This year's ceremony is part of the activities to commemorate the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Thailand and Bangladesh.
