On 23 June 2025, Venerable Suradhaj Dhajasuro, Honorary Adviser to the World Tipitaka Foundation and the M.L. Maniratana (Snidwongse) Bunnag Dhamma Society Fund under the Patronage of His Holiness Prince Krom Luang Vajirananasamvara, the Supreme Patriarch of Thailand, together with representatives of the Foundation and patrons of the project presented the Tipitaka Sajjhaya (Tipiṭaka Saj-jʰā-ya) Phonetic Recitation “King Bhumibol Adulyadej” and “Queen Sirikit” Commemorative 2016 Edition to Their Majesties the King and Queen of Bhutan at Grand Kuenrey Hall of the Tashichho Dzong in Thimphu. Mr. Panom Thongprayoon, Charge d'Affaires a.i. of the Royal Thai Embassy delivered the Tipitaka presentation remarks and Ms. Jaruwaree Snidwongse, patron of the M.L. Maniratana (Snidwongse) Bunnag Dhamma Society Fund gave a brief introduction about this Tipitaka Sajjhaya Phonetic Recitation Edition.
Ms. Atchaka Sibunruang, former Minister of Science and Technology and former Minister of Industry, representing patrons for AI Tipitaka innovation, presented AI device which recorded the Pali recitation from the Tipitaka to His Majesty the King of Bhutan. The tablet device also contains the world’s first Dzongkha translation of contents from Mahāsaṅgīti Tipiṭaka B.E. 2500 : The Roman-Script Transliteration B.E. 2548.
Distinguished participants from the Bhutanese side at the ceremony include senior monks, Chairman of the Privy Council, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Minister of Home Affairs, Chief of Protocol and Director of Culture and Dzongkha Development Department.
After the ceremony, Their Majesties the King and Queen of Bhutan led ceremony participants to light 1,000 butter lamps, and Bhutanese monks offered Moenlam prayers.
The Tipiṭaka Saj-jʰā-ya Phonetic Recitation “King Bhumibol Adulyadej” and “Queen Sirikit” Commemorative 2016 Edition is an achievement in publishing the phonetic transcription according to Pāḷi grammar and Saj-jʰā-ya pronunciation used during the time of Buddha. The project commemorated the 70th Anniversary of the Accession to the Throne of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej in 2016.
On the occasion of the 6th Birthday Cycle Anniversary of His Majesty King Maha Vajiralongkorn in July 2024, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Thailand and the World Tipitaka Foundation initiated a collaboration to present the Tipitaka, which is printed with special colours, to libraries and organizations in countries where Their Majesties King Bhumibol Adulyadej The Great and Queen Sirikit the Queen Mother had paid official visits, as well as countries with historical ties with Thailand.
