“More Alike Than We Might Think:
Unpacking Linkages and Similarities between Thailand and Bangladesh”
on the 50th Anniversary of Diplomatic Relations between Thailand and Bangladesh
********
The Royal Thai Embassy in Dhaka is organizing a photography contest, titled “More Alike Than We Might Think: Unpacking Linkages and Similarities between Thailand and Bangladesh”, as part of the activities to commemorate the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Thailand and Bangladesh. It aims to promote deeper understanding between Thai and Bangladeshi peoples through photographs illustrating the two nations’ similarities in diverse aspects.
The Embassy welcomes photograph entries from Thai or Bangladeshi nationals, both as an individual or as duo, regardless of age and residence. Details as follows:
1. Theme
Interested contestants should submit two (2) photographs, one taken in Thailand and the other in Bangladesh, depicting linkages and similarities between the two countries in one chosen aspect, such as cuisine, vehicle, tourist attraction, lifestyle, arts and culture, local festival, tradition, and local product. Some ideas of pairing photographs include, for example, Thai New Year “Songkran” and Bengali New Year “Pohela Baishakh” celebrated every 14 April; Thai three-wheeler “Tuk Tuk” and Bangladesh “CNG Baby Taxi”; and Thai multi-purpose loincloth “Pha Khao Ma” and Bengali “Gamcha”, among others. Contestants may find inspiration from our short article series “Thailand in 50 Tales”, published on the Embassy’s Facebook every Thursday.
2. Size and Format of the Entry
2.1 Each photograph must have a resolution of at least 4 million pixels (4 megapixels) in JPG format only. Contestants should also provide the title of the photograph and a brief description or reflection on the event or objects in the photos in English that is no longer than 10 lines (one description per both photos), together with the photographer’s full name, date of birth, occupation, email address, address, and contact number. All these should be submitted to the Embassy’s email: [email protected]
2.2 The name of the photo file should begin with the name of the photographer followed by the title of the photo such as Adisorn_Songkran Happiness and Tanvir_Joy of Pohela Baishakh
3. Entry Deadline
Contestants can submit photographs from now until 31 August 2022
(17.00 hours Bangladesh time). For further queries please contact the Royal Thai Embassy in Dhaka via Facebook or email at [email protected]
